Terry McCrossan

Was born in Bellsbank a small mining village in east Ayrshire Scotland in 1958. The village is situated high up on the banks of the river doon, Ness Glen and the Craigengillan estate. This area is one of the most beautiful in South West Scotland.
His mother's family (Archibald) were predominately coal miners and had been for many generations. His father John was an outsider and of Irish descent. He was a journeyman welder. Fortunately he was absent from home much of the time as he had learned both his trade and philosophy of life in the ship yards of the Clyde.

The TIMES newspaper of the 7th of January 2020 - although initally praising Bellsbank and the local council for it's attempts at improvements reminds the reader that historically it was named as one of the most deprived areas in Scotland.

But as they say- we were happy.

Terry went on to work as a garden labourer, deckhand, deckhand/cook, barman, cleaner, wharehouseman, painter and decorator, signwriter, cornice restorer, architectural restorer and latterly as a teacher and lecturer, fifteen years of which were in Scottish prisons.
